Declaration of UNO About Liquidation of All Forms of Racial Discrimination

On November, 20th, 1963 General Assembly accepted Declaration of UNO about liquidation of all forms of racial discrimination. In a preamble Declarations were acknowledged that, in spite of the attained progress, discrimination, based on a race, color of skin or ethnic origin, continues to cause a serious concern.

In the article I of Declaration principles of Charter of UNO and Universal declaration of human rights and their fundamental value for maintenance of friendly international relations are again confirmed:

«Discrimination in regard to people on the sign of race, colors of skin or ethnic origin is trenching upon dignity of human personality and reprobated as a denial of principles, worded in Regulation of United Nations Organization, as violation of human rights and basic freedoms, proclaimed in Universal declaration of human rights, as obstacle to maintenance of friendly and peaceful relations between the states and as a circumstance, which can violate the international peace and security».

However this declaration isn't a document, having obligatory legal power.

International Convention About Liquidation of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

On December, 21th, 1965 General Assembly accepted International convention about liquidation of all forms of racial discrimination. Convention, which is a document, having obligatory legal power, went into effect on January, 4rd, 1969, and presently its participants are 155 states ( Including USA, therefore you can easy make out the us passport and go to have a rest ). In it racial discrimination is determined as any distinction, exception, limitation or preference, based on the signs of race, colors of skin, family, national or ethnic origins, having for an aim or by investigation elimination or belittling of confession, use or realization ... human rights and basic freedoms ...". States-participants agreed to condemn racism and take measures for his liquidation in all forms. In accordance with Convention Committee on liquidation of racial discrimination was also founded, it is the first organ of similar kind on looking after realization of agreement in area of human rights. He carries out looking after implementation of Convention on the basis of consideration of lectures of the states — participants of Convention.

International Year on a Struggle Against Racism and Racial Discrimination

In 1968 soon after going of Convention into effect participants of the first International conference on human rights, convoked in Teheran, appealed with an appeal to proscribe racist and nazi organizations. On December, 11th, 1969 General Assembly proclaimed 1971 year as the International year on a struggle against racism and racial discrimination. It decreeed that Year «must be conducted under a sign all increasing struggle against a racial discrimination in all its forms and displays and under a sign international solidarity with champions against racism». It urgently called the states to activate the efforts for eradication of racial discrimination in all its modern forms, including nazism and apartheid.
